Dave Crossland: Shawn Colvin, Garrsion Starr, Illinois, Massachusetts, and another trip to Texas

Hello all you beautiful, wonderful, kind and giving people who subscribe to my humble email newsletter,

Groovy news to tell you about, including some hep openers.  The first with Garrison Starr right here in the Boston area.  And two in Illinois next week with none other than Shawn Colvin.  Its all happening very fast, so read on and catch the dates down below"

But first, let me tell you that I write to you this moment from Fox Run Studios, where we are cookin' up the happenin' live tracks we recorded over the summer.  Ladies and gentlemen, I mean to say we are mixing The Set That Never Happened at the Kerrville Music Festival this year.  Those of you most hip to the story will recall that my most solid Boston cats and I flew down to Texas last June and mightily enjoyed a rollicking sound check, only to be washed out by Mother Nature and her glorious minions of thunder, lightning, wind and rain.  So we had a most generous invite to set up, kick back and record, old-school style, live in the studio.  Remember the old black-and-white movies, or black-and-white LP's, when the band would set up to play and they would just record the band playing right then and there?  Well, that's what we did and it was fun, and we hope to be sharing it with you in the not so black-and-white future.

The other thing I did recently was truck down to Texas for a music conference and some gigs in Austin and Dallas.  All in all, the trip was killer-diller, saw all my jacks and jills, jammed with super-cat Butch Morgan, got a hug from Dalis --who puts on a fantastic shindig everytime, played a breathlessly sensitive and poignant tune at a pin-drop-quiet Cactus Caf with the entire University of Texas Marching Band as my backup (Oklahoma weekend, long story"), ate a mess of a breakfast at Ciscos, and penned yet another new song with Tom Prasado-Rao --and his ow-liscious wife, Cary Cooper.  Its called Perfect Little You and youre gonna dig it when you hear it once I learn how to play it and sing it.  But wait theres more-- Carys in the middle of cutting her new CD and yours truly had a ball throwing down some backing vocals on the song TPR and I wrote over the summer in Colorado.  I think shes gonna bust out with that deal.

Oh my, how the world spins back right around on itself"

So back to the giggage, my main kick in life...
